OPEN CALL FOR EMERGING PLAYWRIGHTS IN THE NORDIC COUNTRIES
We are looking to translate the work of an emerging Nordic playwright from each of the participating Nordic countries (Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands) for our new translation programme New Nordic Voices.
One play from each country will be translated into English, with a showcase of the plays in London in Spring 2021. The showcase will be a series of reading extracts from each play, with a group of UK performers and directors attached. Extracts of the plays will also form part of an online library of new Nordic writing, available for programmers, theatres, and producers to browse.

Cut the Cord aims to promote new international writing and collaborations in the UK, and we want to work with emerging artists who are innovative, Brexit-defying, and who want to explore how different theatre cultures can meet. We are therefore keen to hear from artists who are either international theatre makers living and making work in the UK, or artists who are interested in making work across cultures and borders.
We also run workshops on working on new international writing, with a particular focus on new Nordic plays. Keep an eye out for our events page for updates on our upcoming workshops.
Cut the Cord works with experienced facilitators and artists to deliver workshops and programmes in relation to our productions. We also run workshops on new writing for social change and theatre-making for young people, and we're currently looking to expand our outreach work to schools.
